#i love how dean’s not even the least bit cowed by the father of murder#like dean is so fuckin chill at cain’s house
He literally stared Death in the face and has helped defeat the Devil. Cain’s got nothin on those bitches.
"Oh! Is that why you call yourself The Doctor? The professional detachment."
Dean is shallow.
He knows this. He feels guilty about it but not enough to stop him checking out Castiel’s ass when the guy bends over.
Castiel is one of the assistants at Emma’s daycare. He always greets Dean with a big smile, eager to tell him everything Emma’s done that day. They spend a good half hour chatting after all the other parents have come and gone. Dean holds a sleepy Emma in his arms as Castiel patiently explains how Emma didn’t drink her milk at lunch again today.
No one is more distraught when the daycare announces it’s closing than Dean. The thought of not seeing Castiel again makes him ill. He doesn’t know who else he can trust with Emma either. He looks around but none of the other daycares have that all important Castiel element to them.
That’s how Dean finds himself asking Castiel to take a job as Emma’s live-in nanny. He knows it’s a mistake, knows his infatuation with Castiel is only going to get worse if Castiel is under the same roof as him, but Emma’s delighted and Castiel is so good with her.
Dean tells himself he can resist Castiel. He tells himself that once Castiel is living with them, he’ll become less interesting, more human. He’ll stop being a walking fantasy that Dean can’t touch.
He tells himself that, but then he walks in on Castiel in the shower.
